The leaves of this shrub are dense, attractive copper-colored, and the flowers are not aesthetically significant. It grows to a height of 2.5 meters. Native to the southern islands of the Pacific region, where it grows densely due to its tolerance of salinity. It needs high humidity and nitrogen content and gives growth similar to its growth in the tropics. It does not fertilize until its roots spread in the soil. When the plant is exposed to wind and lack of humidity, the leaves fall off or their edges burn.
